Biography
- Born on June 9th, 1971 in Paris.
- Ambassador of France to the Republic of Korea since July 2023.
- Graduate from ESSEC Business School (Ecole Supérieure des Sciences Economiques et Commerciales) and from the Paris Institute of Political Studies (Sciences-Po Paris), Philippe Bertoux joined the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1999 upon his graduation from ENA (Ecole Nationale d'Administration).
- After two successive administrative positions in Paris (Africa Department and EU Department), he left for New York to join the Permanent Representation of France to the United Nations (2003- 2006), as counsellor on human rights issues.
- He was then in charge of multilateral and strategic issues at the French Embassy in Russia from 2006 to 2009.
- He came back to Paris to become advisor to Foreign Minister Kouchner on strategic issues, Americas and Russia-CIS-Central Asia (2009-2010).
- From 2010 to 2012, he was Director for Nuclear Disarmament and Non-Proliferation at the MFA. From 2012 to 2016, he returned to the Permanent Representation of France to the United Nations, New York, as First Counsellor (political) and Security Council Coordinator.
- From 2016 to 2020, he was appointed Ambassador and Permanent Representative of France to the Council of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) in Montreal.
- He was Director for Strategic Affairs, Security and Disarmament at the MFA in Paris between 2020 and 2023.
