After graduating from Seoul National University with a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering and a master's degree in KAIST, he received a doctorate in electrical engineering from Stanford University in the United States. After joining Samsung Electronics in 1985, he served as president of semiconductors, vice chairman of Samsung Electronics' CEO, and chairman of the Samsung Institute of Technology. Books include 「Super Class」 and 「Super Class: Leader's Questions.
