Biography
Dr. KIMIYA is a professor of the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences at the University of Tokyo. He graduated from the Faculty of Law, the University of Tokyo in 1983. He received his Ph.D. from the Graduate School of politics and international relations at Korea University in 1992. He also completed doctoral studies in the Graduate School of Law and Politics, the University of Tokyo, in 1993.
He became an assistant professor, the Faculty of Law, Hosei University in Japan in 1993. And he became an associate professor, the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences at the University of Tokyo in 1996. He has become a professor in 2010.
He has developed his study focusing on the Korean politics and diplomacy including Korea-Japan relations, the US-Korea relations, the inter-Korean relations. His Japanese works include The History of the South Korea-Japan Relations, The Modern and Contemporary History of North and South Korea from the Viewpoints of Nationalism, South Korea’s Contemporary History in International Politics, ROK – Its Dynamism of Democratization and Economic Development. His Korean works include Political Choice of the Park Chung Hee Government: Its Export-led Industrialization and the Cold War regime during the 1960s.
