Biography
TERASAWA Genichi served as a diplomat at the Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs for 43 years, making efforts primarily for promoting mutual understanding and friendship with South Korea, and for strengthening mutual security cooperation with the United States.
In his work with developing countries, he focused chiefly on community development projects in Pacific Island countries and African countries.
TERASAWA served as Consul General of Japan in Jeju, South Korea (2015-2018), Counselor of the Cabinet Office of Japan (2018-2019), and Ambassador of Japan to the Independent State of Samoa (2019-2021). After retiring from the government in 2022, he currently works as the representative of a private consultant office for working on community development projects in the field of national mental health in Japan, as well as starting collaborative projects in the field of social welfare with overseas countries, including South Korea, as a part of SDGs.
