Biography
Christian MOOSLECHNER was directly elected mayor of the municipality of Filzmoos in the district of Salzburg - Austria. During his term in office, he initiated a European funded project in his community called "Mountain of Tolerance". The project refers to the expulsion of almost seventy percent of the population of his village during the period of the Counter-Reformation in the early 1730s. The inhabitants had to leave their homes and families because of their Protestant beliefs, and a quarter of them died on the journey. Although long gone, the effects can still be felt today.
That is why the two mayors of Filzmoos and the neighboring village of Ramsau am Dachstein founded the “Dachstein Dialogues Festival” in 2023. The festival was prompted by the alarming level of intolerance, the creeping erosion of the rule of law and the questioning of human rights in the world today. The working title of the 2024 festival is "Torn Years.”
Christian MOOSLECHNER holds a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from the University of Innsbruck - Austria and has worked in Austria, Hungary and Switzerland as a Managing Director in the international steel industry. He is married and has two grown-up children.
