Biography

I graduated from the Naval Academy in 2001, completed a master's degree in International Relations at the Korea National Defense University, and received a Ph.D. in Political Science from Florida State University in 2014. I have held various positions related to strategic planning within the Navy, and I am currently employed as a professor in the Department of Military Strategy at the Korea National Defense University, where I teach courses on "Maritime Strategy" and "Future Warfare." I also serve as a consultant of the Naval Headquarters Future Maritime Center and as a member of the Chungcheongnam-do Maritime Spatial Planning Commission.

Some of my notable papers include "Increasing Maritime Activities of Chinese Forces in the West Sea and Our Response" published in Defense Studies (2020) and "Direction of Naval Development in the Era of Space Warfare" published in Defense Studies (2021). I have authored books such as "Conflict Management between The Two Koreas" and "21st Century Maritime Security and International Relations: Conflict, Cooperation, and Competition." My primary areas of interest include maritime strategy, quantitative research methodologies, maritime boundary demarcation, North Korean SSBN response strategies, and military innovation in the era of AI.
