Biography

Cheol-Hee PARK is currently Chancellor of the Korea National Diplomatic Academy (KNDA). PARK earned his Ph.D. from Columbia University in New York, following completion of his B.A. and M.A. degrees at the Political Science Department of Seoul National University. He held the position of Assistant Professor at the National Graduate Institute for Policy Studies (GRIPS) in Japan, and subsequently at the Institute of Foreign Affairs and National Security (IFANS). Also, he held the position of Professor at the Graduate School of International Studies (GSIS), Director of the Institute for Japanese Studies, Dean of GSIS, and Director of the Institute of International Affairs at Seoul National University. Additionally, he served as President of the Korean Association for Contemporary Japanese Studies, a visiting professor at Columbia University, the University of Tokyo, Keio University and Nankai University. In 2022, he worked as a senior staff member at the Subcommittee on Foreign Relations and Security of the Presidential Transition Committee.
PARK has published numerous books and papers covering topics such as Japanese politics, Korea-Japan relations, as well as international relations of East Asia and he was honored with the First Nakasone Yasuhiro Award in recognition of academic activities and practical contribution to the friendly ties between Korea and Japan.
