Biography

Brendan MC GLOIN has a 30-year background in shaping stone and a keen interest in heritage and restoration which has combined in many of the projects he has created and contributed to. After a 4 year degree in Graphic Design his career redirected itself into that of stone building and masonry. His working career has brought him and his work to many countries outside of his native Ireland. A country renowned for its rich stone heritage spanning from Newgrange Passage Tomb 3200 BC to 17C Gothic Revival. Aged 21, Brendan migrated to Bristol, England where his first job in the vast era of stone was cleaning and pointing at a new neo classical building. This introduction was the spark that ignited his love and passion for all things stone. His most prestigious work to date was a 14ft Sandstone Highcross replicating the original in Clonmacnoise Co., Offaly, Ireland. Commissioned by the A.O.H Portland Oregon USA and unveiled by Irish President Mary Mc Aleese in 2008. His work in monumental, memorial and public commissions has taken his work as far afield as Australia and New Zealand and throughout Scotland, England, Northern Ireland and soon to JEJU Island South Korea.
