Biography

Ambassador KIM Chang-mo majored in Political Science and Diplomacy at Dankook University in Seoul, Korea and obtained his master’s degree of Pacific International Affairs at University of California, San Diego. He further studied in the National Security Course at the Korea National Defense University for high-rank government officials. He started his diplomatic career in 1991, and served as the Ambassador of ROK to Algeria and to Qatar respectively. Ambassador KIM also served as the Director-General for International Administrative Cooperation at the Ministry of the Interior and as the Director of the Climate Change and Environment Division of the International Economic Affairs Bureau at the headquarters of Foreign Ministry. His foreign service as Korean diplomat includes Minister at the Embassy of Korea to the UK, Minister-Counsellor at the Korean Embassy in Afghanistan, Counsellor at the Korean Permanent Mission to the UN in New York and First Secretary at Korean Permanent Mission to the international organization in Vienna. He also served as Assistant Secretary at the Office of the President, ROK. After retiring from the Korean government in 2023, he is currently serving as the Secretary-General of Korea-Arab Society.
