Biography

Mr. Shengyao TANG, a national of the People's Republic of China, has been serving as the FAO Representative and Head of FAO Partnership and Liaison Office (PLO) in the Republic of Korea since July 2020 to strengthen partnership and cooperation between FAO and ROK in contributing to global food security, eradication of hunger, enhancement of agriculture productivity, and strengthening regional cooperation.
He started his career in July 1984 in the Ministry of Agriculture of the People’s Republic of China, and progressively increased his responsibilities in the Department of International Cooperation of the Ministry and served as the Deputy Director-General of the Department of International Cooperation of the Ministry since 2012. In January 1998, he joined the Chinese Permanent Mission to the Rome-based United Nations Agencies as Alternate Permanent Representative to FAO, WFP, and IFAD.
He joined FAO in February 2019 as Director of Office of South-South and Triangular Cooperation.
