Biography

CHOI Dong-Ju is a professor at the School of Global Service at Sookmyung Women’s University and serves as Executive Director of the Sookmyung Institute of Global Governance. His research field includes conflicts and economy, state finance and development models, and multilateral cooperation. Prof. CHOI has written many articles and book chapters, including “A Study on the Correlation Between Sanctions and Humanitarian Situation: Did Sanctions Lead to the Crisis in North Korea” (2024), “Multilateral Development Cooperation in Higher Education: Insights from South Korea” (2023), “United Nations and South Korea: 1945~1973” (2020) and “South Korea’s Engagement with Africa: A History of the Relationship in Multiple Aspects” (2019). He is the president of the Korean Academic Council on the United Nations System. He has done policy work for various government organizations, including the Korean Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Education, and the Ministry of HR Innovation, as well as for the United Nations and its agencies. Professor Choi holds a Ph.D. in political economy from the University of London and an M.A. in international affairs from the American University.
