Biography

Ian OAKLEY is a full professor at the School of Electrical Engineering at KAIST, where he spearheads the design and development of novel interactive technologies that will enable users to unlock the full potential of the next generation of smart, wearable devices. His insights into the future of technology are fueled not only by his work in the trenches building and defining it but also by his unique interdisciplinary background spanning behavioral science, computer science, and industrial design – he combines technical acumen with a deep understanding of, and appreciation for, the human factors in, and consequences of, technological change. He complements this expertise with a global perspective informed by his hands-on experience with international research partnerships, including MIT Media Lab Europe (Dublin, Ireland) and Carnegie Mellon, Portugal (Madeira).
