HIGO Kosei

Biography

I was born in Kagoshima in 1977. I graduated from the Department of Community and Social Education, Faculty of Education, Kagoshima University and completed my master's degree at the same graduate school. In my third year of undergraduate studies, I began my research on social education and lifelong education in Korea after studying as an exchange student in the Department of Education, Chonbuk National University. After receiving my master's degree, I entered the doctoral program of the Department of Education, Chung-Ang University, where I earned my doctorate in "A study of adult education theory and practice in relation to Jong Gon Hwang" (2009). After that, I was assigned as a research professor at the Korea Rural Education Research Center, Kongju National University, where I was engaged in rural school development projects and research. I returned to Japan in 2014 and I am currently an associate professor in the Department of Children's Studies, Faculty of Correspondence Education, Toyooka Junior College. My main areas of interest include the history of social education, school and community, literacy education, and rural education.
