JO Sungmin launched the online platform for PWDs 'The Indigo' in February 2020. Having previously worked as an activist in DPOs for 16 years, I seized the opportunity to delve deeper into various disability issues through four years of reporting, writing, lecturing, and research as a journalist. Since July 2023, I have dedicated myself to domestic and international policies, solidarity activities, and organizational management as the Secretary-General of the Rehabilitation International Korea.
After graduating from university, I worked in the corporate sector for five years. However, spurred by events like the IMF financial crisis, I became deeply involved in labor activities, and after resigning from my corporate position, pursued NGO studies in graduate school. These experiences served as a catalyst for involvement in issues concerning the rights of both disabled and foreign workers, climate crisis, peace, and more.
