Biography
・Born in Kumamoto city of Japan in 1958.
・Graduated from Tsuda University majoring in International Relations in 1982.
・Became paraplegic after spinal tumor operation in 1988.
・Studied in US as a trainee of Duskin Overseas Scholarship Program in 1990 through 1991. Main objective of my program was to research and understand how ADA (the Americans with Disabilities Act) was established and how the inclusive education was implemented.
・After coming back from US to my hometown Kumamoto, I founded in 1991 Human Network Kumamoto (Center for Independent Living) with my comrades and started supporting and empowering persons with disabilities.
・Elected as one of the members of Kumamoto Prefectural Assembly in 1997 for 17 years.
・Being in charged as a chairperson of DPI (Disabled Peoples’ International) Japan since June 15, 2014 until today.
