Biography
이상화 공공외교대사는 1968년 3월 26일 인천 출생으로 2021년 12월부터 현재까지 외교부 공공외교 대사로서 활발한 공공외교 활동을 펼치고 있다. 고려대 서어서문학과 졸업 후 제25회 외무고시로 1991년 외무부에 입부하여 주유엔대표부 1등 서기관, 주콜롬비아대사관 참사관, 반기문 제8대 유엔사무총장 보좌관을 지냈으며, 장관정책보좌관, 북핵외교기획단장, 주미얀마대사를 지낸 바 있다. 2006년 12월에 이러한 공로를 인정받아 국무총리 표창을 받았다.
Lee Sang-hwa was born in InCheon in 26th March 1968. In 1991, he earned B.A. in Spanish language and literature in Korea university, Seoul, shortly after which he joined the Ministry of foreign affairs. After joining, he served as first secretary in Korean permanent mission to the United Nations in New York, U.S.A., counsellor in Korean Embassy in the Republic of Colombia, assistant to the UN secretary-general, UN secretariat in New York, U.S.A. At headquarters, he served as chief of situation center and deputy director general for policy planning, policy advisor to the minister, director-general for North Korea nuclear affairs, ambassoder extraordinary and plenipotentiary to the Republic of the Union of Myanmar. He was awarded Prime minister's citation in December 2006.
