Biography


President Kwang Kook Park of the Korea Environment Institute (KEI) is an environmental philosophy specialist, educator and academic administrator. He was inaugurated as the tenth president of KEI in September 2014. He received his bachelor’s degree in English education and his bachelor’s degree in public administration from Seoul National University. He studied public administration at the University of Georgia and obtained his Ph.D degree in 1990. From 1987 to 1990, he was a researcher at the Institute of Natural Resources, a unit of the University of Georgia. He was a professor at Yeungnam University and is currently serving as a professor of the Department of Law, Economics and Public Administration at Catholic University of Korea (CUK). As an academic administrator, he has served as the Dean of Academic Affairs at CUK, the president of Korea University Academic Deans Association and the third and fourth chairman of the University Accreditation Agency Review Committee of the Ministry of Education. He was the president of the Korean Association for Public Administration in 2013 and is currently serving as an advisor to the Korean Academy of Environment Science.


박광국(朴光國·59) KEI 원장은 환경철학 전문가이자, 교육자이며, 대학행정가이다. 2014년 9월 KEI 제10대 원장으로 취임했다. 박 원장은 서울대 사대 영어 교육과를 거쳐 서울대 행정대학원에서 행정학 석사학위를 취득했다. 이어 도미하여 1990년에 미 조지아대학교에서 행정학 박사학위를 취득하였다. 1987년부터 1990년까지 미국 조지아대 The Institute of Natural Resources에서 연구원으로 근무하였다. 영남대학교를 거쳐 현재 서울 가톨릭대학교 정경학부 교수로 재직하고 있다. 대학행정가로서 가톨릭대학교 교무처장, 전국대학교 교무처장협의회 회장, 제3, 4기 교육부 대학인정기관심의위원회 위원장을 맡고 있다. 이외에도 2013년 한국행정학회 회장을 역임하였고 현재 한국환경한림원 고문으로 있다.
