Biography

Yoonbin Ha is the Director of Strategic Analysis and Coordination Division, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Korea. He received his PhD in international relations (with the field concentration of development studies) from American University’s School of International Service in Washington D.C. In addition to his PhD in IR, he holds MA and BA degrees in IR and a BA in Economics from Seoul National University. He is specifically interested in the issues of inequality at global and domestic levels (including the mechanisms which socially reproduce it), US-China strategic competition and international order, international development cooperation, development-democracy nexus, and Korean and African political economy. He used to work in KOICA (Korea International Cooperation Agency) as a development practitioner for Korean government. Especially, he worked in DRC and Uganda for three and half years. He has also published peer-reviewed articles in the journals Review of African Political Economy and International Development and Cooperation Review regarding Nigeria’s 2015 election and public service provision.
