Biography

Ms. Miyon LEE is currently Director-General for Bilateral Economic Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. She has been serving as a career diplomat of the Republic of Korea since 1993. Prior to assuming this position, Director-General Lee was Ambassador/Deputy Permanent Representative of the Korean Permanent Mission for UN and WTO in Geneva. She also served as the Minister/Consul-General of the Korean Embassy in Vietnam and the Minister-Counsellor of the Korean Embassy in China. Earlier assignments include Spokesperson for Foreign Correspondents at the Office of the President, Director for Multilateral Trade Cooperation, Director for FTA Policy Planning, and Counsellor at the Korean Embassy in Laos. Director-General Lee is a recipient of the Prime Minister’s Citation. She attended Seoul National University with a B.A. in Asian History, and a Master of Science in Foreign Service degree from Georgetown University.
