Biography

Professor Hakseung shin, who is currently employed at the School of Tourism of Hanyang University, received his bachelor's and master's degrees in Tourism from Hanyang University, and a Ph.D. in Business Administration from Virginia Tech. Prior to his appointment at Hanyang University, he worked as an assistant professor at the University of Surrey in the United Kingdom. His main research areas include tourism innovation, digital technology convergence, regional tourism development, and ESG tourism. He has published papers in international SSCI journals such as Tourism Management, Journal of Travel Research, Annals of Tourism Research, and International Journal of Hospitality Management. He was awarded the Outstanding Ph.D. Graduate and Outstanding Ph.D. Researcher at Virginia Tech, and received the Best Paper Award at the Tourism Sciences Society of Korea (TOSOK) International Conference in 2020 and 2021. Currently, he serves as an editorial board member of several journals including the Journal of Travel Research. He has taught Hospitality Revenue Management, Lodging Management, Consumer Behavior, Strategic Brand Management, and Technology, Media, and Data at Virginia Tech and University of Surrey. Currently, he teaches Tourism Development, Tourism Revenue Management, Tourism Planning and Development, and Place Marketing in Hanyang University.
