Hwancheol Son is a urologist and professor at Seoul National University. He is an expert in male sexual function-related diseases including male infertility and sexual dysfunction, as well as prostate and stone disease. He is also an affiliated researcher at the Seoul National University's The Institute for Peace and Unification Studies, with a keen interest in medical education and the medical situation in North Korea. He is currently the president of the Korean Society for Sexual Medicine and Andrology(KSSMA), vice president of the Korean Society of Men's Health and Menopause, and vice president of the Korean Society for Sexology. He is also interested in university issues and serves as a senator of the Seoul National University Senate. He has published more than 100 papers in peer-reviewed journals and co-authored several specialized books.
