Biography

Andres Sanchez Braun holds a BA in Communication from San Pablo CEU University in Madrid and a Master\'s degree in Journalism from El Pais Newspaper/UAM Journalism School in Madrid. After a five year stint as a staff writer and editor at El Pais newspaper, the Spanish speaking world\'s largest daily, in its Madrid Headquarters he moves to Japan where he becomes a stringer for El Pais. In 2011, he joins EFE Spain News Agency as a correspondent at their Bureau in Tokyo and in 2017 he becomes EFE\'s correspondent for the Korean peninsula. He has covered the Japanese earthquake & tsunami of 2011 and its devastating consequences on local communities, including those affected by the accident at the Fukushima Nuclear Power Plant, which he has visited to witness recovery and dismantlement efforts. In South Korea he has covered President Park Geun-hye\'s impeachment, the growing tensions between North Korea and the United States or the subsequent summits between Kim Jong Un and president Donald Trump, as well as the last three Inter Korean summits. He has also been able to visit North Korea, where he has covered multiple stories from Pyongyang and other regions like Hwanghae, Pyongan and Gangwon provinces.
