Biography

Dr. Saleemul Huq is the Director of the International Centre for Climate Change and Development (ICCCAD) and Professor at the Independent University Bangladesh (IUB). In addition, he chaired the Expert Advisory Group for the Climate Vulnerable Forum (CVF) and also Senior Adviser on Locally Led Adaptation with Global Centre on Adaptation (GCA). Also, he is a Senior Associate at IIED and was also previously director of the Climate Change research group at IIED. He is an expert in adaptation to climate change in the most Vulnerable developing countries and has been a lead author of the third, fourth and fifth assessment reports of the IPCC and he also advises the LDC group in the UNFCCC. He has published hundreds of scientific articles and recognized globally as one of the top influencers on climate change policy. Also, he is ranked among the world’s top 2% scientist from Bangladesh in the environmental science category in the “Updated science-wide author databases” as well as one of the top ten scientist of 2022 by Nature the leading international science journal recognized as. Recently, he has been appointed as Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) in the 2022 New Year Honours for services to combating international climate change. In 2023, he has been ranked as top ten scientist in Nature one of the leading scientific journal.
