Biography

Ranit Chatterjee is an architect turned disaster management professional with a doctoral degree in environmental management from Kyoto University, Japan. Having a work experience of over 12 years, he has been involved in various projects spanning from architectural planning & conservation to disaster risk reduction in countries across Asia such as India, Japan, Nepal, Laos, and so on. He has worked with UN organizations, national and local governments, the private sector, and academia in the past. Ranit is a visiting associate professor at Keio University in Japan. He is co-founder of RIKA India, a research-based startup to undertake research to bring evidence on disaster risk reduction and climate change adaptation. In addition, he is one of the founding members of UINSPIRE Alliance, a network of young professionals to further science, engineering, technology, and innovation in the Asia Pacific region. Ranit is an IRDR Young scientist fellow (Integrated Research on Disaster Risk), a CEM member of the IUCN business and biodiversity group, and an Advisory member of UNDRR’s Stakeholder Engagement Mechanism (SEM).
