Lih Shiun is Tencent’s Senior Director for Public Affairs, where he is responsible for engagement with government, policy makers and third parties in support of innovation and growth of vibrant digital ecosystems across the Asia Pacific region (outside of China). He leads the company’s public affairs efforts covering a range of issues, including inclusive growth, digital wellness, content regulation, data protection and security, and general technology policy. Prior to his current role, Lih Shiun was Head of Strategy and Operations at Google, where he serve as chief of staff to the Vice President for Government Affairs and Public Policy, and drove Initiatives to maximise the public policy team’s operational excellence. In his early years at Google, he represented the company in Southeast Asia on wide ranging tech policy issues and built numerous partnerships with government agencies and nonprofit organisations. He started out his career with the Singapore public service, working primarily on policy development for emerging technology issues like data protection. Outside of work, Lih Shiun is passionate about giving back and supporting the next generation of talent. In his free time, he serves as a mentor and coach to young adults who are aspiring to do more with their lives.
