Biography

Dr. Jun Byoung-Kon is currently Senior Research Fellow at KINU. Dr. Jun’s research focuses on Chinese politics, international relations in Northeast Asia, and China-North Korean relations, etc. Dr. Jun Byoung-Kon received his B.A. from the Literature Department of the Hankuk University of Foreign Studies where he also earned his Ph.D. in Political Science. He was a Vice-President at KINU(2019-2020), a visiting researcher at the China Institute of Contemporary International Relations (2009) and a visiting professor at the Harbin Normal University (2011) and National Chengchi University (2011-2012). He is a member of the Standing Committee of the National Unification Advisory Council(NUAC) from 2021 to the present and has been working as an adjunct professor in the Graduate School of International and Area Studies of Hankuk University from 2010 to 2014. He is the author of “China’s Sanctions on North Korea after Its Fourth Nuclear Test”(2017), 「Searching for the ways of Improving the Role of Civil Society in Constructing the Foundation for the Public Diplomacy on the Peace and Unification of the Korean Peninsula」 (2021) and 「The Era of U.S.-China Strategic Competition and South Korea’s Compound Response Strategy 」 (2022).
