Biography

Isaac Asare has over 15 years of experience in programme and operational leadership with international organizations in the development and humanitarian sectors, managing donor programs in agricultural value chains, humanitarian assistance and livelihoods, and youth empowerment programs. Isaac currently works with UNDP Sudan, managing Darfur Livelihood and Recovery Programme, working with private sector players, government, and donors, and overseeing the South and East Darfur Regional office. Before joining UNDP, Isaac held leadership positions with international organizations. He worked in the agricultural sector (seeds and fertilizers), building the capacity, linking agriculture inputs SMEs and smallholder farmers to global inputs and output market companies, and facilitating trade finance for fixed assets and inventory. He worked with government counterparts and established platforms, addressing smallholder farmers' adoption of agricultural technologies. Isaac is an experienced researcher/M&E who has conducted assessments, impact evaluations, and data collection. Passionate about using ICT (GIS, mobile, and web technologies) to create systems to facilitate value chain linkages. Isaac has leveraged his educational background (Sociology/Agriculture) and experience to contribute to the local economic recovery of conflict-affected communities in five (5) countries across Africa, providing technical guidance, and networking to stimulate investment in the agricultural value chains.
