Biography
우정엽 박사는 2017년부터 세종연구소 수석연구위원으로 재직 중이며 Korea On Point (www.koreaonpoint.org)의 편집장이다. 서울대학교에서 경영학 학사, 조지타운대학교(Georgetown University)에서 정책학 석사를 취득하고 위스콘신 주립대학교-밀워키(University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee)에서 정치학 박사학위를 취득했다. 세종연구소 재직 전에는 서던 캘리포니아 대학교(University of Southern California) 한국학연구소에서 박사후연구원을, 2010년부터 2017년까지는 아산정책연구원에서 연구위원을 역임했다. 아산정책연구소 재직 중인 2014년부터 2016년까지는 워싱턴사무소장을 역임했다. 주요 연구 분야는 한반도 안보, 한미 동맹과 미국의 외교정책이다.
WOO Jung-Yeop is a research fellow at the Sejong Institute since 2017 and editor-in-chief of Korea On Point (www.koreaonpoint.org). He received his BA in Business Administration from Seoul National University, MPP from Georgetown University, and Ph.D. in Political Science from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. Before joining Sejong, WOO was a postdoctoral fellow at the Korean Studies Institute at the University of Southern California and a research fellow at the Asan Institute for Policy Studies from 2010 to 2017. At Asan, he served as director of its DC office from 2014 to 2016. His research interests include security issues on the Korean peninsula, ROK-US alliance, and US foreign policies.
