Biography
With a B. Sc. in Economics (INTEC, 1987); an M. A. in Economic Theory and Econometrics (1990, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign), and a Ph. D. in Regional Science and Development Economics (1994, from the same university), Ambassador Cuello Camilo has 34 years of government experience, including 22 as an Ambassador and Head of Mission in Geneva, Brussels, New York, London, Doha, and Seoul; 4 as an Economics Vice-Minister; 4 as an economist at the Central Bank, 2 as an economic adviser to the Minister of Economy and 2 as an economic adviser to the Chamber of Deputies. He negotiated the chapters on services and investment of the Free-Trade Treaty between Central America and the Dominican Republic; the Free-Trade Agreement between CARICOM and the Dominican Republic; and the Economic Partnership Agreement between CARIFORUM and its Member States and Europe and its Member States. A consultant for ITU, IADB, UNDP, and UNCTAD on economic and trade policy reforms, he has served as a Director of the School of Economics at the Technological Institute of Santo Domingo (INTEC) and is a Research Professor of Development Economics and Economic Policy at the Pontifical Catholic University (PUCMM).
