Biography
PARK Chan-sik, born in 1962 on Jeju Island, is a historian specializing in Korean history and the modern and contemporary history of Jeju. He earned his Ph.D. in Literature from Sogang University in 1996 with his dissertation titled 'The Modern Catholic Church in Korea and Rural Society.' He served as a specialist member of the Jeju 4·3 Committee (headed by the Prime Minister) and participated in drafting the Truth Investigation Report. He has held various positions, including Director of the Jeju 4·3 Research Institute, Research Professor at Jeju National University, Head of the Truth Investigation Team at the Jeju 4·3 Peace Foundation, and Director of the Jeju Studies Research Center. Currently, he is the Chairman of the Jeju Cultural Promotion Foundation, responsible for investigating and managing Jeju's cultural heritage."
