Biography
한신대학교 평화교양대학 부교수이며, 서울대학교 사회학과에서 석사 및 박사학위를 받았다. 동아시아에서 일본제국 해체기에 발생한 전쟁 및 폭력을 ‘국가폭력’의 관점이 아닌 ‘국가를 낳은 폭력’이라는 관점에서 파악하는 연구를 하였다. 주요 저서로는 『포위된 평화, 굴절된 전쟁기억: 히로시마 만의 군항도시 구레 연구』(공저), 『오키나와로 가는 길』공저), 『경계의 섬, 오키나와: 기억과 정체성』(공저), 『냉전의 섬 금문도의 재탄생』(공역), 등 다수의 연구가 있다.
He is an associate professor at Hanshin University's College of Peace and Liberal Arts, and received his master's and doctoral degrees from the Department of Sociology at Seoul National University. He conducted a study to understand the war and violence that occurred during the breakup of the Japanese Empire in East Asia from the point of view of ‘violence that begets the state’ rather than ‘violence of the state’. His major books include 『Besieged Peace, Refraction of War Memories: A Study on the Naval Port City of Kure in Hiroshima Bay』 (co-author), 『Road to Okinawa』, 『Boundary Island, Okinawa: Memory and Identity』 (co-author), 『 The Rebirth of Geummun Island, an Island of the Cold War (co-translator), and many other studies.
