Biography
김석호는 University of Chicago에서 사회학 박사학위를 취득했으며, 성균관대학교 사회학과 교수를 거쳐 현재 서울대학교 사회학과 교수로 재직 중이다. 한국의 UN SDGs 이행을 위한 모니터링 체계 구축(2016)과 UN SDGs 지표 메타데이터 작성(2020), 한국 SDGs 이행보고서 2022 작성(2022)의 총괄 책임자이다. 한국의 독자적인 지속가능발전목표인 K-SDGs의 17개 목표 지표 선정 및 작성을 2020년에 수행한 바 있으며, 이를 토대로 현재 국가지속가능발전지표 관리체계를 구축 중이다. 정치행위와 태도, 시민사회, 시민성, 국제이주, 사회적 가치, SDGs, ESGs 등과 같은 공익의 제도화, 과학적인 근거 중심 현실 진단, 지역 중심 미래 방향 설정 등에 관한 연구를 해 왔다. 현재 서울대학교 사회발전연구소 소장을 역임 중이며 지역사회학회 회장, 포스코(POSCO) 기업시민경영자문위원회 위원으로 활동하고 있다.
Seokho Kim received his PhD in Sociology from the University of Chicago, and is now a professor in the Department of Sociology at Seoul National University (SNU). Before joining SNU, he was a professor of Sociology at Sungkyunkwan University. He has been leading the following projects: establishing a monitoring system to implement the UN's Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in Korea (2016, 2020), and the Korea's SDGs Implementation Report 2022 (2022). He has conducted research in the fields of citizenship, social value, international migration, the process of institutionalizing public interests such as the SDGs and the ESGs, reality diagnosis driven by scientific evidence and future-proofing on regional basis. He is the director of the Institute for Social Development and Policy Research at SNU, the president of the Korean Association of Regional Sociology, and a member of the POSCO Corporate Citizenship Advisory Committee.
