Biography

Seokho Kim received his PhD in Sociology from the University of Chicago and is now a professor in the Department of Sociology at Seoul National University (SNU). Before joining SNU, he was a professor of Sociology at Sungkyunkwan University. He has been leading the following projects: establishing a monitoring system to implement the UN's Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in Korea (2016, 2020), and Korea's SDGs Implementation Report 2022 (2022). He has conducted research in the fields of citizenship, social value, international migration, the process of institutionalizing public interests such as the SDGs and the ESGs, reality diagnosis driven by scientific evidence, and future-proofing on a regional basis. He is the director of the Institute for Social Development and Policy Research at SNU, the president of the Korean Association of Regional Sociology, and a member of the POSCO Corporate Citizenship Advisory Committee.
