Biography

민무숙은 이화여자대학교에서 영문학을 전공하고 서울대학교에서 교육사회학 석사를, 일리노이대학교에서 교육사회학 박사를 취득하였다. 이후 여성가족부 여성인력기획관, 한국여성정책연구원 선임연구위원, 대통령비서실 여성가족비서관을 역임하였으며 제7대 한국양성평등교육진흥원 원장을 지냈다. 또한, 국방부 양성평등위원회, 경찰위원회, 교육부 정책자문위원회 위원으로 활동한 바 있다. 2020년 5월부터 제3대 제주여성가족연구원 원장을 맡아 제주 사회의 성평등 실현을 위해 진력하고 있다.

Min MooSuk majored in English literature at Ewha Womans University, and obtained a master’s degree in sociology of education from Seoul National University, and a PhD in sociology of education from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. Dr. Min served as a senior research fellow at the Korean Women’s Development Institute, the director for women’s human resources planning at the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family, and the secretary to the President for women and family affairs. She also served as the 7th president of the Korean Institute for Gender Equality Promotion and Education. She has participated as a member of the gender equality committee of the Ministry of National Defense, and the Korean national police commission. In May 2020, Dr. Min joined Jeju Women and Family Research Institute as the third President, and has been making every effort to realize gender equality in Jeju society.
