
Biography
Prof. Kim is the former head of the Graduate School of S&T Policy at KAIST, now heading the Korea Policy Center for the Fourth Industrial Revolution (KPC4IR) and serving as the Project Coordinator of the Project for the Establishment of Kenya Advanced Institute of Science and Technology. With research on high-stake issues at the interface of S&T and public policy such as government R&D funding and evaluation, basic science policy, science advising, and science & engineering workforce, Prof. Kim has conducted large-scale science policy projects funded by the National Research Foundation and led global collaboration projects involving the World Economic Forum and the European Commission. As a public intellectual, Prof. Kim has served numerous governmental committees including the Advisory Committee for Fiscal Policy (Ministry of Economy and Finance), the Spent Nuclear Fuel Policy Committee Chairperson (Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, chairperson), National R&D Program Evaluation Committee (Ministry of Science and ICT), and Committee for Gender Equality in University Faculty Recruitment (Ministry of Gender Equality and Family). Her work has been recognized by prominent awards including the National Assembly Award for the Contribution to S&T Policy.
