Biography
Seong-deok YUN is the Deputy Director for Economic Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) of the Republic of Korea (ROK). With over 30 years of his career at MOFA, he has developed expertise in the areas of the economy and trade. He joined MOFA by passing the High Diplomatic Service Exam after receiving a B.A. in English Language and Literature from Seoul National University in 1989. At MOFA, Seong-deok YUN served as Director of the European Trade Division, the FTA Policy Division, and the FTA Negotiation Coordination Division, and he also took a role as Director-General for Bilateral Economic Affairs. While in diplomatic missions, he served as First Secretary at the Korean Embassy in Belgium and the EU and the Korean Embassy in Lebanon; Counsellor at the Permanent Mission in Geneva; Minister at the Korean Embassy in Belgium and the EU; and Deputy Consul-General at the Korean Consulate General in Guangzhou, China. From July 2018 to June 2021, Seong-deok YUN contributed to enhancing bilateral relations between the ROK and Morocco as Ambassador to the Kingdom of Morocco. From June 2021 to February 2022, he supported the diplomatic activities of former Prime Minister Kim Boo-kyum as a Foreign Policy Advisor.
