Biography
Kim Dongbum, Secretary General, KODAF(Korea Differently Abled Federation). Since 1999, Kim Dongbum has been the Secretary General of the KODAF, a coalition of groups that represent Koreans with disabilities and has been working to improve the human rights and welfare of people with disabilities. At the KODA, together with the member groups, he served as an expert in the preparation of alternatives for legislating laws related to persons with disabilities including the Prevention of Discrimination against the Disabled, the Pension Service Act for the Disabled, the Support for the Disabled, and the Act on the Promotion of Business Activities for the Disabled. In particular, for 20 years the organization has led the disabled voters’ movement in the presidential election, National Assembly elections, and local elections, and has continued to promote suffrage for the disabled, encouraging candidates to make pledges for the disabled, and engaging in politics.
Previously, he served as the Editor-in-Chief of the ON News for ten years and has been leading discussions on social issues and issues for people with disabilities. He majored in civil engineering at Inha University, graduated from Hanshin University with a master's degree in rehabilitation studies, and completed a Ph.D. in social welfare at Sungkyunkwan University."
