Joo Yeon Park commenced practicing law in 2012 and participated in several significant animal-rights activities such as urging for investigation and punishment of animal cruelty cases and the amendment of the animal protection law in Korea. In 2017, she established a pro-bono group of lawyers supporting animal rights, ‘People for Non-human Rights (“PNR”)’ with her colleagues, and has since advocated animal rights and the improvement of legal status and welfare of non-human animals. Joo Yeon Park and the other PNR members deal in animal cruelty and protection legal cases, provide lectures, and write books and columns regarding animal rights and laws.
