Biography
Dr. Hyun In-Taek is Professor Emeritus of Political Science and International Relations at Korea University. He served in the Lee Myung-bak Administration as Minister of Unification from February 2009 to September 2011, where he was responsible for all matters related to national unification and inter-Korean affairs, including North Korean policies, inter-Korean dialogues and exchanges, and public education on national unification. Dr. Hyun also served as Special Advisor to the President for Unification Policy from September 2011 to February 2013 in the Lee Myung-bak Administration. He received his B.A. and M.A. at Korea University. He holds a Ph. D. in international relations from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). He has published numerous academic articles and books both in Korean and English including “An Enduring Dilemma on the Korean Peninsula: The North Korean Nuclear Conundrum and South Korea’s Strategic Choices” (2016, in English), The Future of Hegemony (2020, in Korean), and South Korean Foreign Policy (2022, in Korean).
