존 베이트먼은 카네기국제평화재단의 기술국제문제 프로그램 담당 선임연구원이다. 그는 U.S.-China Technological “Decoupling”: A Strategy and Policy Framework의 저자이기도 하다.
카네기재단에 앞서, 베이트먼은 미국 합참의장 General Joseph F. Dunford의 특별보좌관을 역임하였으며, 미국 국방부에서 사이버전략수행 총괄팀장 및 미 국방정보국 선임 분석관을 역임하였다.

Before joining Carnegie, Bateman was special assistant to Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff General Joseph F. Dunford, Jr. Bateman previously served as director for cyber strategy implementation in the Office of the Secretary of Defense, and as a senior intelligence analyst at the Defense Intelligence Agency.
Bateman’s commentary has appeared in the Wall Street Journal, Politico, Harvard Business Review, the Hill, Slate, Foreign Affairs, Techdirt, and elsewhere. His television and radio appearances include the BBC, NPR, and Deutsche Welle.
