Biography
이기동은 국가안보전략연구원의 수석연구위원이다. 그는 현재 대통령 직속 민주평화통일자문회의 평화법제분과위원회 위원장을 맡고 있다. 그리고 2022년도 북한연구학회 회장직을 수행하고 있다. 그는 국가안보전략연구원의 부원장을 지냈다. 또한 국가안보전략연구원에 입사하기 전에 통일연구원(KINU)에서 책임연구원으로 일했고, 한국정치학회 북한연구분과위원회 위원장을 맡았었다. 그의 주된 관심영역은 북한 정치와 남북관계 분야이다.
Gee-dong Lee is a chief research fellow at the Institute for National Security Strategy (INSS). He is the chairman of the Peace Law Committee of the Peaceful Unification Advisory Council and a member of the Ministry of Unification Advisory Committee. And He is the president of the Korean Association of North Korean Studies in this year. He was a former vice president of the INSS. Prior to joining the INSS, he served as a senior research fellow at the Korea Institute for National Unification (KINU), chairman of North Korea Subdivision at the Korean Political Science Association (KPSA), and visiting professor of Keio University in Japan. His main area of research is North Korean politics and the military, and inter-Korean relations.
