Biography
Mr Lee is currently Chair of the Working Group on Business and Human Rights, an advisory body to the National Human Rights Commission of Korea, and a member of the Working Group on Business and Human Rights of the UN Global Compact (UNGC) Korea Network.
He is the Chair of the International Committee of the Korea Civil Society Forum on International Development Cooperation (KoFID) and the Chair of the Special Committee on UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the Korea Association for International Development and Cooperation (KAIDEC). Internationally, he is a co-convener of the Asia Development Alliance (ADA) and has been a Board member of the CIVICUS-World Alliance for Citizens’ Participation (2012-2016).
He has taught about global governance, civil society, human rights, democracy, and development at the Graduate School of Public Policy and Civic Engagement at Kyunghee University. He studied sociology at Seoul National University and obtained a master's degree from the Catholic University of Korea.
Previously, he worked as a civil servant for the National Human Rights Commission of Korea (NHRCK) as the Director General in charge of policy and education (2008-2010). He also served as Executive Director of the Asian Forum for Human Rights and Development (FORUM-ASIA), a Bangkok-based regional human rights NGO (2005-20084).
