Biography
Ambassador Shin is a vice president of the UN Association of ROK and a special invitee professor at Handong Global University in Pohang, S Korea. He was retired from the Korean Government in June 2018. He was the Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to the Republic of Bulgaria and to the State of Kuwait between April 2016 and May 2018 and between March 2014 and March 2016, respectively. Before he was appointed Ambassador to Kuwait in April 2014, he was Ambassador for Climate Change from April 2013, responsible for leading international negotiations on climate change for the Republic of Korea. Since October 2011 he has been Ambassador for Green Growth to forge the negotiations on the Agreement on the Establishment of the Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI), the inter-governmental treaty to convert the GGGI into an international organization. He joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1982 and received a bachelor’s degree in German Literature from Seoul National University and a master’s degree in International Relations from Boston University.
