He has expertise in planning and managing R&D programs(e.g., World Class University, etc.). He has worked at the National Research Foundation of Korea for about 20 years as a principal researcher before taking over his position at KERC. He emphasizes the importance of joint research between countries or fields. His academic background is also somewhat unique. He has a bachelor’s and master’s degree in mechanical engineering and a Ph.D in public administration.
