Biography

송영훈 교수는 강원대학교 정치외교학과에 재직 중이며 강원대학교 통일강원연구원장이다. 2020년과 2021년에 강원대학교 기획처장을 지냈다. 현재 한국국제정치학회와 한국인권학회 부회장을 맡고 있으며, 남북하나재단과 법무부 난민위원회 자문위원 등으로 활동하고 있다. 2015년에 강원대학교에 부임하기 전까지 통일연구원과 서울대학교 통일평화연구원에서 근무를 하였다. 미국 사우스캐롤라이나대학교에서 정치학박사학위를 받았으면, 국제정치이론, 전쟁과 강제이주, 인권과 개발협력, 남북관계 분야에서 연구와 교육을 진행하고 있다. 최근 연구로 “Living on the Border? Human Rights and Selection Process of North Korean Defectors”, “수의 정치: 난민인정률의 국제비교” 등이 있다.

Young Hoon Song is Associate Professor of the Department of Political Science and Director of Kangwon Institute for Unification Studies at Kangwon National University. He served as a dean of University Office of Planning in 2020-2021. He is an advisory committee member of Korean Han Foundation and Refugee Council of Ministry of Justice. Before joining the university in 2015, he had worked for the Korea Institute for National Unification and the Institute for Peace and Unification Studies at Seoul National University. He received his Ph.D. from the University of South Carolina in 2011. His research interests lie in international relations theory, conflict and forced migration, international human rights and humanitarianism, and inter-Korean relations. His recent publication includes “Living on the Border? Human Rights and Selection Process in the Forced Migration of North Korean Defectors” and “Politics of Number: A Comparison of Refugee Recognitional Rages.”
