Ms. Corinne Fleischer has been the Regional Director of the WFP Regional Bureau for the Middle East, Northern Africa, and Eastern Europe since December 2020. In addition to her role as Regional Director, Ms. Fleischer was appointed as Corporate Response Director for the Ukraine operation in February 2022. She started her career at the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) in Sudan. Before joining WFP in 1999, she led multiple diplomatic missions in East Africa. Since Ms. Fleisher joined WFP as the procurement officer for the WFP Ethiopia Office (1999-2001), she served as the head of WFP’s backbone divisions and large-scale operations, including the Partnership Team at the Asia-Pacific Regional Bureau (2001-2007), the WFP Sudan Office Emergency Coordinator (2007-2010), the WFP HQ Procurement Director (2010–2013), WFP Regional Deputy Director (2013-2015), the WFP Supply Chain Director (2015–2018) and the Syria Country Director (2018-2021). Ms Fleischer earned her Master's degree from the University of Geneva in Switzerland, and she is a national of Switzerland, fluent in English, German, and French, and possesses an intermediate level of Arabic.
