Biography
인간개발연구원 제13대 회장. 1975년 서울대학교 법대를 졸업한 뒤, 행정 고시로 공직에 입문해 경제기획원과 재정경제원(현 기획재정부)에서 공직 생활을 시작했다. 이후에 국비유학생으로 선발돼 미국 사우슨 메소디스터 대학에서 경제학박사 학위를 취득했다. 청와대에서는 정책, 건설교통, 산업 통신과학, 재정경제 등 네 분야에서 대통령 비서관을 지냈으며 제7대 통계 청장과 한국인 최초 IMF 상임이사, 제4대 새만금위원회 민간위원장, SC제 일은행 이사회 의장, JA코리아 회장 등을 역임했다. 현재는 김앤장 법률사 무소 고문, 스크랜턴여성리더십센터 이사장, 서울대 과학기술최고과정 명 예주임교수 등으로 활동 중이다.
"Jong Nam Oh is the 13th president of the Human Deveopment Instutue. Since his retirement from the public service in 2006, has been serving as a senior advisor at Kim & Chang, consulting for global, regional and national business leaders while teaching at Seoul National University.
Oh is the Chair of the Board of Directors at Standard Chartered Bank Korea and Scranton Women's Leadership Center. He is also the President of Junior Achievement (JA) Korea which educates the youth on work readiness, financial literacy and entrepreneurship.
Served the Korean government for more than 30 years (1975-2006), working mostly at the Economic Planning Board, Ministry of Finance and Economy, Office of the President (“Blue House”) and Statistics Korea.
He was also the Executive Director of IMF and UNICEF Korea, Board member of GM Korea and Chair of the Board at Samsung Securities Inc.
earned his bachelor of law from Seoul National University in Korea, and M.B.A. & Ph.D. in Economics from Southern Methodist University in Texas, USA.
