Biography
Young Ho KIM is a Professor at the Department of International Relations at Korea National Defense University(KNDU). His major areas of interest include foreign policy and security affairs of Northeast Asia, ROK-U.S. relations, and international security issues. He received his Ph.D. and M.A. degrees in Political Science from the Ohio State University(OSU), USA. While having taught at KNDU since 2002, Prof. Kim held several academic and administrative posts including Director-General of Research Institute for National Security Affairs and Chair of Dept. of International Relations. As a policy expert, he is currently a policy adviser for the Foreign Affairs and Unification Committee, National Assembly, and has also experience working as the Deputy Secretary to the President for Security Strategy at the Blue House. In addition, Prof. Kim has conducted research and taught at the Rajaratnam School of International Studies(RSIS), Nanyang Technological University, Singapore as a visiting fellow. Among many of his articles and books some of his recent ones in English include Domestic Constraints on South Korean Foreign Policy, (Co-author, Jan. 2018); and “U.S.-China Competition in the Indo-Pacific: A Military Dimension,” Journal of Conflict and Integration (Dec. 2019).
