Biography
서울대 국어교육과를 졸업하고 1983년 <동아일보>에 입사해 도쿄특파원, 정치부장, 편집국장, 논설실장, 대기자(상무)를 지내고 2017년 말 퇴직했다. 일본 게이오대 방문연구원, 고려대 글로벌일본연구원 초빙교수, 화해·치유재단 이사, 일제강제동원피해자지원재단 이사, 세종연구소 이사, 서울대 언론정보학과 관훈정신영기금교수, 서울대 일본연구소 객원연구원을 지냈다. 현재 한일포럼 운영위원, 세토(서울-도쿄)포럼 이사로 있으면서 국민대 대학원 국제지역학과 석박사통합과정에서 일본을 공부하고 있다.
SHIM Kyu-Sun graduated from the College of Education at Seoul National University with a degree in Korean Language Education, and joined the Dong-A Ilbo(daily newspaper) in 1983. After serving as the newspaper’s Tokyo correspondent, political editor, chief editor, and executive columnist, he retired at the end of 2017. He also served as the visiting professor of Global Institute for Japan Studies of Korea University, director of Sejong Foundation, vising researcher of Institute for Japanese Studies at Seoul National University. Currently he is a director of Korea-Japan Forum, SeTo(Seoul-Tokyo) Forum, also studies Japan at the Graduate School of Kookmin University.
