SHIM Kyu-Sun graduated from the College of Education at Seoul National University with a degree in Korean Language Education and joined the Dong-A Ilbo(daily newspaper) in 1983. After serving as the newspaper’s Tokyo correspondent, political editor, chief editor, and executive columnist, he retired at the end of 2017. He also served as the visiting professor of the Global Institute for Japan Studies of Korea University, director of the Sejong Foundation, and visiting researcher of the Institute for Japanese Studies at Seoul National University. Currently, he is a director of the Korea-Japan Forum, and SeTo(Seoul-Tokyo) Forum, also studying Japan at the Graduate School of Kookmin University.
