Biography
The Honourable Marc Garneau has served as a Member of the Canadian Parliament since 2008. He has also served as Canada’s Minister of Foreign Affairs in 2021 and as Minister of Transport from 2015 to 2021. Before entering politics, he was an officer in the Royal Canadian Navy and subsequently became an astronaut, being the first Canadian to fly in space in 1984. He also served as the President of the Canadian Space Agency. In August 2003, he was made a Companion of the Order of Canada, Canada’s highest civilian honor. Mr.Garneau has lived 17 years of his life outside Canada and has always been strongly interested in international affairs.
