Biography
Professor Hyun-seok Yu is currently at the Department of Political Science and International Relations, Kyung Hee University, Seoul, Korea. He specializes in regional cooperation and regional architectures in East Asia, Korea’s foreign policy issues, and public diplomacy. He served in many advisory positions in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Unification, and the Prime Minister’s office. He was a visiting scholar at the ISIS of Chulalongkorn University, Bangkok, Thailand, and a visiting professor at the College of Law and Politics of Keio University, Tokyo, Japan. He played an instrumental role in upgrading Korea’s public diplomacy in his capacity as the president of the Korea Foundation, an affiliated organ of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Korea. Dr. Yu also served as the Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Malaysia from May 2016 to February of 2018. He majored in Political science at Yonsei University, Seoul, Korea, and his master’s degree in Political Science from the University of Colorado, Boulder, USA. In 1995 he earned Ph. D. degree in Political Science from Northwestern University, Evanston, USA
